ANTHONY
J. WILKINSON - “Anthony”
A graduate of NYU's College of Arts and Sciences, Anthony began
his career as an intern at ABC Daytime Soap Opera, One Life To
Live, where he received numerous promotions over the past fourteen
years. During his time there he earned three Daytime Emmy's and
four Directors Guild of America awards.
His first production was an annual karaoke competition to benefit
Rainbows Hope, a Staten Island charity for handicapped children.
Contestants were auditioned in his parents’ bowling alley, and
those chosen went on to compete on a man-made stage built in the
middle of the lanes! A few years later, Anthony wrote and starred
in the musical productions Rainbow Phi and Icelandic Idol, which
played venues in Fire Island, Brooklyn and Asbury Park. The original
production of My Big Gay Italian Wedding followed In 2003, beginning
with a six week run at The Actors Playhouse in New York City,
eventually moving to Theatre Four and extending for almost a year.
Three years later, Anthony wrote and starred in another gay musical,
Boys Just Wanna Have Fun, which also ran at The Actors Playhouse.
A supporter of gay rights and Marriage Equality, Anthony realized
it was time for the return of My Big Gay Italian Wedding, and
returned to the original script, transforming it and creating
a show that was bigger, better and more explosive than before.
The re-creation premiered in September of 2009 at the historic
St. George Theatre in Staten Island, as a one night only benefit
for Pancreatic Cancer Research. The reception it received proved
that the time was right for the show’s return to the off-Broadway
stage, where Anthony is once again reprising his original role.

He is an alum of the Walnut St. Theatre Dorothy Haas Acting Apprenticeship Program, has a B.A. in vocal music performance from TCNJ, and has studied private voice with Jerome Hines and Enrico DiGiuseppe. After originating the role of Rodney in this production of My Big Gay Italian Wedding, and spending five months here among the Big Gay Italian Family, Erik took a hiatus to play the title role in Erik Jackson's adaptation of Stephen King's "Carrie". Directly following that, Erik was able to fulfill the lifelong dream of starring in a musical of his own design, which happened in the form of "Coming: A Rock Musical of Biblical Proportions" for which Ransom wrote the book, lyrics and music. It played at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia to rave reviews and packed houses in January 2011. Erik is thrilled to come directly from that high, back to the comfort and support of My Big Gay Italian Wedding, which has provided so much for him. He would not be able to pursue his artistically fulfilling life, if not for the constant and consummate support of his family.
